It’s all about celebrating the educators who go above and beyond expectations.
St. Joseph’s College’s first-ever Esse Non Videri Gala Awards Dinner this fall will honor the extraordinary efforts of SJC alumni teachers and administrators who work in the field or have retired in the last year.
Educators who graduated from either of the College’s campuses will be recognized at the Friday, Nov. 19, event in six distinct award categories, including Educator of the Year, Excellence in Teaching Primary Education, Excellence in Teaching, Secondary Education and Rising Star and Distinguished Administrator.
SJC will also present the COVID-19 Pandemic Educator Award to an educator who has demonstrated a particularly high level of resilience and compassion during the pandemic.
“With our long-standing tradition of educating outstanding and influential teachers across New York and Long Island — and the country — we believe it’s important to acknowledge the invaluable contributions our alumni educators are making in the world, especially during this extremely challenging time,” said Rory Shaffer-Walsh, vice president for institutional advancement at St. Joseph’s.
“And what makes this event even more special is that the money raised will fund scholarships that benefit current students who are on the path to become educators,” she added.
The awards dinner will be held at the Garden City Hotel in Garden City. Nominations for the awards were accepted until May 7 and the award winners were to be notified by the end of May.
