Catholic Faith Network (CFN) recently hosted its annual Telethon, raising more than $350,000 for TV ministry. The two-day event featured St. Joseph’s College President Donald Boomgaarden, Ph.D., along with numerous other guests.
Dr. Boomgaarden appeared via Skype, discussing SJC’s new programs and recent projects with Msgr. Jim Vlaun. The president also spoke on the tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph that is felt by many at the College.
“There’s no tradition that is more worthy of special attention than that of the Sisters of St. Joseph,” Dr. Boomgaarden said. “Keeping that charism of the Sisters alive at St. Joseph’s is really important to me and it’s important to everyone on my staff.”
Dr. Boomgaarden is the host of CFN’s series “Living Our Mission,” which features familiar faces from SJC and covers a broad range of topics, including academic offerings and student life at the College, as well as SJC Long Island’s new Student Center and how the College continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.
New episodes are now airing on Catholic Faith Network.

Glad to see that the Catholic Church is still part of St Joseph’s. I graduated in 1983 and wondered with all the changes if your higher ideals weren’t getting lost along the way or your catholic identity watered down to accommodate the larger culture. I chose the school because faith was a part of the life of the college. I am glad it still is. I hope it always will be.
