Members of the SJC Long Island community celebrated St. Joseph’s Day on Wednesday, March 23, with a special Mass hosted by Campus Ministry.
“We pray for all the Sisters who have inspired us over the years — the Sisters that are with us here in presence and in spirit, and the Sisters who have been part of our history and led us here,” said Cristian Murphy ’14, director of Campus Ministry.
“Some of you maybe in the hallways see signs of different Sisters,” Murphy continued. “You may not recognize some of their faces, but you recognize their spirit. And that’s what we ask for today, recognizing the spirit that you can feel in these halls and that we need to keep on inviting into our hearts.”
Father Francis “Frank” Pizzarelli, S.M.M., DCSW, led mass and blessed the St. Joseph’s Day pastries provided by the Office of Student Involvement, Leadership and Intercultural Engagement.
“We not only honor St. Joseph and the power of his example, we honor our history and the Sisters of St. Joseph who founded this institution that has made such a difference in thousands and thousands of young people’s lives,” Fr. Frank said.
“We also want to remember the Sisters who cannot be with us, those who’ve gone home to God, and we pray for the Sisters who are in Ukraine taking care of those who are really suffering,” Fr. Frank added.
