Undergraduate students at St. Joseph’s University, New York have the opportunity to present their research at a Student Research Symposium this spring, with the Long Island Campus’ set to take place Saturday, April 20, and the Brooklyn Campus’ set for Wednesday, May 1.
“The SJNY Student Research Symposium gives our students an opportunity to hone their communication skills by providing them with a supportive environment of peers and mentors, and a low-stakes chance to practice talking about their research,” explained Michael Magee, Ph.D., Brooklyn Campus’ director of undergraduate research and associate professor of psychology.
The symposium offers students of all academic disciplines a chance to celebrate their research with the SJNY community through poster presentations, 10-minute talks and art exhibitions.
Students conducting research at St. Joseph’s also have the opportunity to receive a grant. For more information on the Brooklyn Campus grant opportunities, click here. For more information about Long Island Campus research grants, click here.
“Student research is an opportunity for students to deploy the skills they learn in the classroom,” said Andrea Stadler, Ph.D., associate chair and associate professor of chemistry, as well as director of undergraduate research at the Long Island Campus.
“It is a chance for them to explore an area of interest, hone their problem-solving skills, and really make their mark and unique contribution to their chosen fields of study,” Dr. Stadler continued. “Students get to explore an area of interest and expand their knowledge, and then showcase the final product.”
Submissions for research proposals are open for Long Island Campus students through Sunday, April 14, and for Brooklyn Campus students through Wednesday, April 17.
