Just in time for the start of the fall semester, SJC Long Island is finishing up renovations of an ongoing campus beautification project that includes a brand new Student Hospitality Center and a refurbished front door at the main entrance to O’Connor Hall.
Both jobs were supported by a grant from the Regional Economic Development Council (REDC). By renovating over 5,900 square-feet of space on O’Connor Hall’s second floor, the College created offices for student-related clubs and organizations, including Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM), Student Government Association (SGA), Campus Ministry, and Multicultural Student Life and Global Studies.
Students will also find an open area for lounging, recharging electronic devices and meeting with colleagues. This innovative, warm and welcoming area will greet students and visitors as they enter O’Connor Hall from the new Quad.
Once inside O’Connor Hall, don’t forget to visit The Perch, SJC Long Island’s brand new cafe on the third floor, where students, staff, faculty and visitors can grab a cup of Starbucks coffee and snacks between classes.
Last summer, the college unveiled transformations that encompassed revamping the Quad and gardens behind O’Connor Hall, creating an Admissions and Hospitality Center and a Student Success Center, developing the Center for Wellness and beautifying the Roe Boulevard entrance.
