Get ready for the energized Class of 2023 to enter the SJC Brooklyn Bear Cave!
The incoming class began putting down their deposits Thursday at Freshman Registration Day. Freshmen received their identification cards, set up their college emails, participated in a tech training, registered for classes, and sat in on a Student Life informational session.
Rimsha Tarique, 19, of Queens said she is excited to start college and explore everything SJC Brooklyn has to offer. After meeting with student advisors and professors,, Tarique said she’s anxious to start her collegiate journey.
“I had fun,” said Tarique, who is undecided on her major. “Everyone introduced themselves and made me feel comfortable in this new setting.”
Meanwhile, incoming freshman Chris Stewart of Brooklyn was quick to point out the best part of his day: registering for classes.
Stewart, a biology major interested in eventually studying medicine, said the SJC Brooklyn faculty and staff helped ease his mind as they showed him simple tricks about getting around campus and guided him about his decision whether or not to join the campus’ Honors program.
Stewart added that he’s looking forward to the fall semester — especially since the class sizes at St. Joseph’s are similar to what he experienced in high school. “I like that it’s small,” he said.
Alexa Vasquez of Brooklyn said freshman registration pumped her up for beginning the next chapter of her life, as a child study major.
“I’m interested in the development of a child,” Vasquez said. “I took classes on it in high school.”
