The walkway outside of Founders Hall heading to the Dillon Center on the Brooklyn Campus has been named for Joan Reardon Dillon ’56 to recognize her lifetime of dedication to the University.
Ms. Dillon was honored during a heartfelt dedication ceremony this fall. SJNY President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., offered a special congratulatory and appreciative message to Dillon, who has served for many years on the alumni board and committees, and frequently volunteers her time at the University.

After graduating from the Brooklyn Campus in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in history, Ms. Dillon served for 32 years as an elementary school teacher at Public School 75 in Bushwick. From 2013 to 2015, she served as president of the Brooklyn Campus’ Alumni Association Board. She has been instrumental in facilitating annual reunions for St. Joseph’s alumni.
S. Elizabeth Hill, ’64, C.S.J., J.D., St. Joseph’s sixth president who retired in June 2014, has showered Ms. Dillon with praise and gratitude, noting in a 2019 publication that “Joan gives new meaning to the word ‘loyal.'”
