St. Joseph’s College has opened up another door for those looking for a career in computer science.
SJC and Hofstra University administrators have signed an articulation agreement for students to have the ability to complete a five-year program in computer science that results in both a bachelor’s in computer science from St. Joseph’s College and a master’s in computer science from Hofstra University. And, to help the process along, the Hofstra application fee and GRE exam are waived, according to the May 2017 agreement.
As SJC computer science graduates, students will also be receive six credits toward the 30-credit Hofstra master’s degree. The remaining 24 credits can be completed within a year. Students will also have the option at Hofstra of declaring a concentration in either web engineering or networking and security.
“We are delighted that our students have the opportunity to complete 6 credits towards their master’s at SJC, at no additional cost, and then complete their master’s in computer science at Hofstra University in one additional year,” said Victoria Hong, chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at SJC.
Students interested in enrolling need to be juniors or seniors who are computer science majors and have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 that they will need to maintain throughout the program.
SJC Long Island also has articulation agreements with Suffolk County Community College for accounting, criminal justice, human services, nursing, computer information technology and hospitality and tourism management; Nassau Community College for health administration, human services and hospitality and tourism management; SUNY Sullivan Community College for health administration; and New York School for Medical and Dental Assistants for health administration.
