On May 15, students, faculty and trustees gathered in the Student Center on the Long Island Campus for St. Joseph’s University, New York’s 2025 Toast to the Graduates celebration.
The Student Center was full as guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and light refreshments, during which Caroline O’Dea ‘25, Long Island Campus valedictorian, delivered her valedictory speech.
“Growth doesn’t always look graceful,” she assured her fellow students, comparing the college experience to a tough race that truly feels rewarding due to the challenges faced along the way. “To succeed, we need purpose, and courage and heart.”
Madison Frascogna ’25 was presented with the Boomgaarden Leadership in Action Award by Matthew J. Barbis ‘94, a member of SJNY’s Board of Trustees.
During her speech, Frascogna thanked her classmates as together they helped revitalize campus life in the wake of COVID.
Warm remarks of encouragement about their time at the University and future pathways were offered by SJNY President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D. In addition, Long Island Alumni Board President Samuel Bifulco ‘16 spoke to students about the benefits of St. Joe’s robust alumni network.
The ceremony concluded with an official toast to the graduates of the Class of 2025 led by Executive Dean Eileen White Jahn, Ph.D.
