SJC Brooklyn Pride radiated throughout the Clinton Hill campus last week during Spring Fling.
The celebratory week, organized by the campus’ Office of Student Life, featured a host of exciting events for students, including laser tag, the SJC Jubilee and a chance to receive a Bear Bundle of SJC swag.
Gabriella Praia, a senior speech major, said she always looks forward to Spring Fling as a mid-semester break to hang out with her friends. At the SJC Jubilee, Praia and her sisters in the Beta Upsilon Delta sorority, had a table set up, raising autism awareness — a community service activity that the women had missed being able to hold in-person on campus.
“It feels great to be here,” Praia said. “When COVID first hit, this was kind of taken away from us. It’s nice to see the community together again.”
In addition to the Beta Upsilon Delta sorority table, the SJC Jubilee featured giant blow-up games, including axe throwing, darts and cornhole, as well as jumbo Connect-4 and Jenga. Students also enjoyed lunch and had the opportunity to support the College during its annual Giving Day fundraiser, held the same day as the SJC Jubilee.
Sindy Liu, assistant for student involvement, said it was great to see so many students express their gratitude for being able to safely return to campus and gather with friends at events.
“You could really feel the energy on campus this week as students came together for Spring Fling week!” Liu said. “Students were excited and ready to have fun and mingle with their friends and classmates after the long pandemic season.”
