The SJC Brooklyn community will salute current military members and those who have served during a special Veterans Day ceremony on Monday.
The annual event — scheduled for common hour inside the Tuohy Hall Student Lounge — will feature speeches from SJC President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., and students from the campus’ Student Veteran Association.
The ceremony is the SJC Brooklyn community’s way of thanking our service members and military-affiliated students.
Last year’s ceremony featured a few symbolic rituals: a flag folding ceremony, where armed forces members symbolically fold an American flag 13 times to represent the original colonies; a special reading of “In Flanders Fields,” written by Canadian physician Lt. Colonel John McCrae at the end of World War I; and a reading of names of SJC Brooklyn veterans.
