In tribute to Learning Disabilities Awareness Month, SJC Long Island’s Campus Ministry will host a partial screening of the 2017 documentary “Summer in the Forest” Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 5:30 p.m. in the McGann Conference Center.
The program showcases the journey of philosopher Jean Vanier and the work he has done for the disabled population. Campus Ministry will be joined by Catholic Charities Residential Services at the event.
“We are honored to host this event and offer an opportunity to discuss the importance of disability awareness,” SJC Long Island Campus Minister Cristian Murphy said. “Through the work of the late Jean Vanier, we can be inspired to see the dignity of human life in all people.
“We are extremely grateful for organizations like Catholic Charities and the services they provide toward this mission,” he added.
The event, which is open to the public, includes a 30-minute screening of the documentary, followed by a conversation about disabilities awareness. There will be a light dinner and raffle prizes. Attendees must RSVP by emailing licampusministry@sjny.edu.
