SJC Long Island’s Office of Admissions welcomed more than 200 high school seniors and transfer students, along with their families, for Admitted Student Day events this week, inviting them to learn more about the College and to celebrate their acceptance.
Accepted students had the chance to interact with SJC faculty, staff and students through live Zoom sessions, where they could learn more about the College’s majors and minors, student support offices, athletics, student-run clubs and organizations, and financial aid opportunities.
“We are so pleased with the turnout for both of our Admitted Student Days,” said Andrea Volk ’04, director of undergraduate admissions and admissions operations. “This year, we were able to create a really awesome platform that offered students an individualized custom experience as they navigated their way through the virtual program.
“I believe, based on the feedback, that it resonated quite well with our participants, and I hope it gave them a sense of how valued they are to St. Joseph’s,” she added.
SJC President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., shared an enthusiastic welcome with the accepted students, emphasizing the familial atmosphere at the College.
“As you think about your acceptance to St. Joseph’s and about coming to St. Joseph’s, I hope that you understand how happy we are that you made this decision,” Dr. Boomgaarden said. “You’re going to become a part of a great family. Here, you’re more than just a number, you really are a name, and we’re very, very happy to have you with us today.”
