SJC Long Island’s Class of 2021 graduated during seven separate in-person ceremonies held on campus in Patchogue on June 4, marking the completion of an exceptional accomplishment during a challenging time.
More than 1,000 students earned their degrees as part of SJC Long Island’s Class of 2021. Nearly early 800 students from this year’s class and from the Class of 2020 dressed in academic attire and took part in the formal commencement ceremonies. The seven ceremonies marked the first full commencement held on campus since 2003.
“It’s the motto of your alma mater: Esse non videri — ‘To be, and not to seem,'” St. Joseph’s College President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., said to the graduates on June 4. “This is your mission — to be real. To find the intellect and spirit within yourselves. To a divine purpose. To make a difference in the world around you. Graduates of 2020 and 2021, now you are the embodiment of that mission. Go forward and change the world.”
