This holiday season, the St. Joseph’s University, New York community is teaming up to give to those in need. Events and fundraising drives across both campuses are helping collect items for less fortunate families from nearby communities. Find out below how you can get involved and serve others this winter.
Brooklyn Campus
• Campus Ministry will use this year’s food drive to restock the SJNY Food Pantry (Nov. 6 – 20).
• The Recreation and Hospitality Club is collecting warm and cozy donations to give to Interfaith Medical Center Substance Rehab Unit for the holiday season (Nov. 20 – Dec. 11).
• The NSSLHA Club is buying gifts from an Amazon wishlist for St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital and hosting a holiday card making event for a senior center (Nov. 29).
• Brooklyn Campus’ BSN Club is hosting a toy and book drive for a local charitable organization (collection ends Dec. 5).
Long Island Campus
• Circle K made more than 200 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to support Patchogue Neighbors Soup Kitchen (Nov. 8).
• Campus Ministry’s annual Thanksgiving Food Drive will support Lighthouse Missions (Nov. 8 – 14).
• Project Sunshine’s Toy Drive and Holiday Card Making event will support Angela’s House (Nov. 16).
• Alpha Gamma Delta hosted a Thanksgiving Food Drive at Shoprite in Patchogue, with donations going to Island Harvest (Nov. 19).
• Circle K and the Educators Club teamed up to make Thanksgiving baskets (Nov. 20).
• Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society, held a Thanksgiving food drive and collected items to donate to St. Sylvester’s Parish in Medford (Nov. 20).
• The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s Thanksgiving volleyball tournament requires players to bring in a non-perishable food item in order to participate (Nov. 20 – 21).
• Campus Ministry’s Christmas Gift Drive will collect presents for Wyandanch Homes and Property Development Corporation (Nov. 27 – Dec. 15).
• Project Sunshine and Diversity Union are partnering with Donate with Devin Inc. for a winter coat drive to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters (Dec. 1 – 19).
