Within their first day at St. Joseph’s College, students at SJC Brooklyn find out exactly what sets the school apart. On Thursday, Aug. 25, transfer students and freshmen were treated to a daylong orientation that featured dancing, tours and the all-important popcorn machine.

The overall tone was festive and one of connecting this new class — and transfers — to the history of SJC while strongly encouraging students to participant in the campus experience. Administrators such as Senior VP Christopher Frost, Ph.D.; VP for Student Life Sherrie Van Arnam; and VP for Academic Affairs Barbara Garii, Ph.D. told students to take an active role in creating their future, and abide by three actions:
- Be brave enough to ask questions.
- Be willing to try something new.
- Find your passion.
For a campus that’s known for its community, the message was clear: get the most out of your college experience, participate and get involved.
The day concluded with the Brooklyn Block Party featuring the vocal stylings of Christian Branch ’11, The SJC Diamonds dance squad and the Orientation Team.
