More than 100 golfers, along with incoming SJC President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., enjoyed a sunny day at the Engineers Country Club in Roslyn Harbor during St. Joseph’s 27th annual Golf Classic. The outing raised more than $150,000 (the second-highest total ever raised at an SJC Golf Classic) to benefit the College’s athletic programs.
This year’s honoree was Peter M. Rogers, president of the Sayville-based firm Edwards and Company.
Four graduating seniors were presented with the 2017 Outstanding Student-Athlete Award at the event: Kelly Roberts ’17, a four-year member of the SJC Golden Eagles women’s cross country and track and field teams; Fernando Vasquez ’17, a standout member of the Golden Eagles basketball team; SJC Bears baseball team pitcher Mitch Brigando ’17; and four-sport Bears student-athlete Kristen Candelaria ’17.
The SJC honorees were selected based on demonstrating academic and athletic success, as well as campus and community impact over their time as student-athletes.
