The SJC Brooklyn Bear Den is ready to welcome a pack of eager students on Aug. 28 at new student orientation.
Things kick-off at 10 a.m. with special introductions from President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D.; Sherrie Van Arnam, vice president for student life; and Dr. Raymond D’Angelo, interim executive dean.
Students will also receive a warm welcome from a pair of seniors: Amarfi Collado, student government association president, and Gabriella Fielding, student government association vice president.
Following the welcome ceremony, freshmen and transfer students will split up, going to separate sessions to get an even better understanding about all the services SJC Brooklyn has to offer.
The groups reconvene in The Hill Center gymnasium about 3 p.m. for a celebration filled with music, novelties, games, raffles and refreshments. Students will also have the opportunity to pick up their caps and gowns for September’s investiture ceremony.
At orientation, each campus — including enrollment management, financial aid, registrar, academic affairs, bursar, student life, counseling and wellness services, career preparation and professional development and athletics — will be open.
Classes begin Sept. 4.
