The SJC Brooklyn student body acknowledged the start of the semester and the New Year with a special celebration this week inside the Tuohy Hall auditorium.
The theme of the celebration, organized by the Campus Activities Board (CAB), was 2020 — representing the current year and a reminder for students to have “20/20 vision,” or clarity when making goals for the New Year.
“When we thought of 2020, we agreed that it would be fun to have a theme where students see into their future,” said CAB President Khalia Foster, a senior hospitality and tourism management major, as she painted a pair of sunglasses during the event.
The celebration featured stations that encouraged students to see into their future, including getting a reading from an astrology, tarot or palm reader; creating a vision board; decorating sunglasses; and playing “fortune fish,” a card game featuring a cellophane fish that tells a player’s future.
