The Department of Religious Studies at St. Joseph’s College celebrated eight graduating seniors Thursday, May 14, on their induction into the National Honor Society for Religious Studies and Theology, Theta Alpha Kappa.
“It’s really a wonderful event for us to know that we have this many people out in the world there carrying on the traditions and values of St. Joseph’s College,” said S. Suzanne Franck, C.S.J., Ph.D., associate professor of religious studies and director of the Academic Advisement Center.
Professor and Chair of Religious Studies Thomas Petriano, Ph.D., asked the five students from SJC Brooklyn and three from SJC Long Island to imagine they were holding a lit candle as they were being inducted into the honor society.
“That light represents the light that’s within you,” Dr. Petriano said. “That light represents what you have the capacity and the potential to bring to wherever life is calling you on the journey ahead.
“It is my happy privilege and pleasure to induct all of you into the Theta Alpha Kappa,” he added.
