Three jobs weren’t enough for St. Joseph’s College alum Nick Esposito. So he found a fourth.
The 2016 graduate has been hired as the first staff reporter for greaterpatchogue.com and greaterbayshore.com — community news websites that report on the surrounding areas of Patchogue and Bay Shore. Esposito, a native of Centereach, N.Y., started his journalistic journey at SJC Long Island, earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism and new media studies last May.
While researching local colleges as a high school senior, Esposito discovered SJC Long Island’s newly launched program that integrated journalism with new media.
“Not many programs have taken the initiative to incorporate this new style of journalism,” said Esposito, who also works as a reporter/producer at LI News Radio, a broadcast operations staffer at CBS Sports and a freelancer in News 12 Long Island’s marketing and public relations department.

SJC’s convergent journalism program allowed Esposito to develop interpersonal communication skills, in addition to such technical skills as video recording and editing. His ability to produce and edit his own news coverage captured the attention of the Greater sites’ publisher Michael White.
The publisher, a longtime journalist in the New York metropolitan area, said Esposito will be reporting in a style that combines writing and broadcasting.
“As these sites push forward, we’re going to continue to diversify and modernize the way we deliver news,” White said. “Nick has all the tools to help accelerate this process while maintaining very high standards.”
Greaterpatchogue.com debuted in the summer of 2015, and was followed by the launch of greaterbayshore.com in 2016.
