A weekend offering drastic changes in the weather served as a backdrop for an introduction to two distinctive campuses at St. Joseph’s College.
On Saturday, Oct. 28, SJC Brooklyn held its open house on a sunny, near-70 degree day. More than 350 guests explored the historic St. Joseph’s campus on Clinton Ave. Specialized tours included an introduction to the school’s new nursing labs, as well as state-of-the-art biology labs, the acclaimed Dillon Center and even the St. George Hotel — SJC Brooklyn’s off-campus housing building that is home to local and international students.
“Initial survey results show that the Open House was very well received by the prospective students and their families,” said SJC Brooklyn Vice President for Enrollment Management Christine Murphy. “It was a wonderful opportunity to introduce the prospective entering class of 2018 to our new president, who gave touching and sincere opening remarks.”

The following day’s Nor’easter did little to stop more than 1,000 guests from visiting SJC Long Island’s Open House.
Similar to SJC Brooklyn’s event, the Oct. 29 Open House event in Patchogue featured a welcome address from SJC President Donald Boomgaarden, Ph.D., as well as helpful workshops addressing such matters as scholarships, financial aid, admissions needs and career outcomes.
“We were delighted to have had over 1,000 visitors brave the stormy weather to spend the day with us at SJC Long Island,” said SJC Long Island Vice President for Enrollment Management Gigi Lamens. “As evidenced by the event evaluations, the day was a huge success, despite the rains and heavy winds. We are still receiving many flattering compliments from visitors as they reflect on their time spent on campus during our Open House.”
