An SJC Brooklyn baseball player stepped up to the plate this summer with an internship writing about the Brooklyn Cyclones for a popular sports website.
Joseph Langan, a senior journalism major and sociology minor, always dreamed of becoming a sports journalist or broadcaster, covering professional baseball. After Langan put down his glove at the end of the 2019 baseball season for the Brooklyn Bears, he accepted an internship with New York Sports Day, an independent website that covers all of the major New York sports teams.
“The most memorable moment for me had to be having my first article published,” Langan said. “It was a great feeling knowing that my hard work had finally paid off and allowed other people all over New York to read my pieces.”
During the internship, Langan penned a few game-day articles about the Cyclones.
Langan — who rotates between first base, pitcher and the outfield for the SJC Brooklyn Bears — said he hopes to continue growing in the journalism field. He envisions himself as a correspondent for a major sports publication, or even the Major League Baseball network.
“My internship at New York Sports Day is my first one, and it’s was a great one,” Langan said. “Their reputation around New York is great, so I am hoping this leads to really good things in the future.”
