On Sept. 10, the St. Joseph’s University, New York’s Long Island Campus’, Eaglettes Kickline Club visited Atria Patchogue to kickoff the football season.
Atria Patchogue specializes in assisted living and memory care, offering 24/7 personalized support with all-inclusive amenities and convenient on-site services. Their Great Tailgate Luncheon and Live Music Event gave residents the opportunity to celebrate the start of the NFL season with game-day style snacks and team spirit.
The Eaglettes joined the celebration, acting as “cheerleaders” for the residents and their favorite teams.
“Seeing their faces light up when they see us and call us their “cheerleaders” really means so much to us,” said Samantha Santoro, president of the Eaglettes. “Just being able to put a smile on their faces makes us feel like we’re doing something right, not just as a club, but as a community as well.”
Each year the Eaglettes visit Atria Patchogue during the holiday season for a Christmas-themed dance performance, making this event a chance to build connections with the residents while celebrating a new occasion.
“Some of the girls were nervous going into the event. Usually when we visit Atria Patchogue, we just perform for them and then leave, so the thought of interacting with the residents was nerve-wracking for some of them. Leaving the event, the girls claimed they felt so happy and really felt like we made their day,” says Santoro.
Visiting Artia Patchogue is an event the club is always looking forward to, as they get to uplift residents’ spirits simply by showing up and spending time with them.
“We did this event because we love being able to spread happiness and joy whenever we get the chance to, so getting invited to an event like this really means a lot to us. Especially for these residents, we know that some of them don’t usually get a lot of family member visits, so we like to become that family for them. So, we thank Atria Patchogue for inviting us to their Great Tailgate Social Series event, and we cannot wait to see them again soon,” Santoro concluded.
