Long Island Campus’ student-run organization S.T.A.R.S. (Students Taking an Active Role in Society) packed 40 Easter bags that were donated to Branches Long Island.
The packing event brought together members of the SJNY community, with students joining to help and others donating supplies. It provided an excellent chance for students to live out the mission of St. Joseph’s University while engaging in two of the University’s five pillars — service and social responsibility.
The nonprofit organization, which provides necessities to those in need, distributed the gift bags to local children.
Packed Easter gift bags consisted of stickers, bubbles, coloring notebooks and lollipops.
“The S.T.A.R.S. members and leaders were so happy to give back to our community and make kids smile this Easter,” said Victoria Pannizzo, a junior child study major.
