And just like that, St. Joseph’s University, New York is gearing up for its fall 2026 semester. It is an exciting time for the SJNY community with many activities, classes, organizations and programs in full swing. That said, there is plenty of information to go around. Whether you’re an incoming or returning student, parent, staff or faculty member, here are a few important dates to keep in mind.
August 17 — Brooklyn Student-Athlete Move-In
For Brooklyn Campus-based student-athletes residing at the St. George Towers Residence (100 Henry Street, Brooklyn, New York 11201), move-in day is Monday, August 17. Located less than two miles from campus, University shuttles will be available to and from the St. George Residence.
September 1 – Long Island Graduate/Adult/Online Evening Orientation
On Tuesday, September 1, students enrolled in the University’s graduate, adult and online programs can learn about SJNY’s various services, programs and activities in addition to meeting with department representatives. Orientation will take place from 7 – 9 p.m. in the McGann Conference Center.
September 3 – Long Island First-Year Student Day Orientation
First-year Long Island students joining the SJNY community will attend orientation on Thursday, September 3 from 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the John A. Danzi Athletic Center. Meet your classmates, attend a workshop on campus resources and finalize everything you need before the semester begins.
September 3 – Long Island Transfer Student Evening Orientation
SJNY transfer students will join campus representatives for new student orientation on Thursday, September 3 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the McGann Conference Center. Get to know your new home and everything you’ll need before the start of classes.
September 4 – Brooklyn New Student Move In
New students residing at the St. George Towers Residence can move in on Friday, September 4. Located less than two miles from campus, University shuttles will be available to and from the St. George Residence throughout the day.
September 7 – Brooklyn Returning Student Move-In
Returning students residing at the St. George Towers Residence can move in on Monday, September 7.
September 8 – Brooklyn New Student and Parent Orientation
On Tuesday, September 8, parents and new students attending SJNY’s Brooklyn Campus can learn more about their new home during fall orientation from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hill Center. Meet fellow classmates and University staff, explore various resources and discover everything you’ll need to start the semester off on the right foot.
September 24 – Long Island Parent and Family Social
Join us on Thursday, September 24, in the Student Center for parent and family orientation. Our social is an opportunity for parents and family to meet staff and see everything SJNY has to offer. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.
Other Important Dates and Information
First Day of Classes
All undergraduate, graduate and full semester online classes begin on Wednesday, September 9.
Dining Services
Dining services are officially open on Monday, August 17 and Wednesday, September 9 on the Brooklyn and Long Island campuses respectively.
Parking Passes
Brooklyn students can receive their parking passes online via SJNY Lounge beginning September 7.
Long Island students can receive their parking passes by visiting the security office in O’Connor Hall.
