St. Joseph’s University, New York President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., was recently interviewed on the program “Long Island Main Street News.”
During his half-hour appearance, Dr. Boomgaarden and Vision Long Island Director Eric Alexander discussed the institution’s recent designation change from college to university, the value of a higher education degree, new programs and the University’s dedication to service.
“One of our core values is service, social responsibility — and that comes from our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph … They have been a model for us in terms of outreach,” Dr. Boomgaarden said during the interview. “Each campus has a special ministry and mission center … but along with that, every student club has some type of charity that they work with written into their charter. Every single club is raising money on a consistent basis for (Long Island charities) … That is really who we are.”
