The SJC Brooklyn community never fails to unite as one when an opportunity arises to be socially responsible and serve others.
March 29 was no exception when more than 40 members of the SJC Brooklyn community donated enough blood to save more than 123 lives during a Blood Drive inside the Tuohy Hall Auditorium, campus officials report.
The drive, administered by New York Blood Center in Long Island City, allowed donors to support two community causes at once. For each of the 41 life-saving donations collected during the drive, the New York Blood Center donated $1 to Feeding New York State, a charity food bank organization.
“It was great to see the SJC community coming together and participating to save over 123 lives,” said Lauren Purcaro, executive director of Student Involvement, Leadership and Intercultural Engagement at SJC Brooklyn.
