This holiday season, the St. Joseph’s community is gearing up to give to those in need. Donation drives across both campuses are helping collect items for less fortunate families from nearby communities. Find out below how you can get involved and serve others this season.
Thank-a-thon
Hosted by the Office of Alumni Engagement
Join the Office of Alumni Engagement in expressing gratitude by sending thank you cards to the many generous donors who give back to St. Joseph’s throughout the year. The Thank-a-thon will take place on both campuses on Wednesday, November 20 during common hour. The Long Island event will take place in the Student Center and the Brooklyn event will take place in the Veteran’s Lounge.
BROOKLYN CAMPUS
Food Fight Donation Event
Hosted by the Office of Student Life, Leadership and Intercultural Engagement
The Office of Student Life is hosting a Food Fight food drive from now until November 21. Participants are encouraged to donate shelf-stable and non-perishable food, which will be used to restock the SJNY food pantry.
Can-struction Live Build and Play Competition
Hosted by the Office of Student Life, Leadership and Intercultural Engagement
Using the donations from the Food Fight food drive, students and faculty will have the opportunity to participate in a team-oriented competition where they will build a sculpture made entirely out of canned goods. The live-build showdown will take place on Monday, November 25 during common hour in the Office of Student Involvement. Click here to sign up.
Campus Food Pantry Drive

Any students who are interested in making food donations or are in need of food donations are encouraged to reach out to the Campus Ministry team at bk.campusministry@sjny.edu or visit them in Tuohy Hall, Room 205.
Recreation and Hospitality Club Clothing Drive
Hosted by the Recreation and Hospitality Club
From October 28 to November 28, the Recreation and Hospitality Club is holding a clothing drive in support of the Interfaith Medical Center Substance Abuse Unit. Donations can be dropped off at the front desk in Student Life.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
Hosted by the Child Study Club
The Child Study Club is collecting non-perishable Thanksgiving food items in support of Reaching Out Community Services. Donations can be dropped off at the MCE security desk from November 11 to November 25.
Holiday Toy Drive
Hosted by the Child Study Club
Also in support of Reaching Out Community Services, the Child Study Club will be hosting a holiday toy drive. They will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys from November 25 to December 9 at the MCE security desk.
Making Holiday Cards Event

On December 2 during common hour, the Child Study Club will be hosting a holiday making card event in the Student Lounge. The cards will be donated to the Bedford Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Beta Upsilon Delta’s Winter Clothing Drive

Beta Upsilon Delta is holding a winter clothing drive for CAMBA Brooklyn. Gently used or new winter clothes can be dropped off in Tuohy Hall from November 18 through December 5.

Christmas Gift Drive

In partnership with the Wyandanch Homes and Property Development Corporation, the Office of Campus Ministry is sponsoring 23 families in need this holiday season. If you are interested in donating, please fill out this form. Wrapped gifts can be dropped off during common hour on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Give/Get Wellness Drive
Hosted by the Office of Campus Ministry and the Center for Counseling and Wellness
In support of the Lighthouse Mission, from now until November 15, the Office of Campus Ministry and the Center for Counseling and Wellness, will be collecting winter health supply donations. Donations can be dropped off at either offices and those who donate will get their own hygiene kit in return. Christmas Clothing Drive
Hosted by the Office of Campus Ministry, the Office of Global Studies, Best Buddies Club, Criminal Justice Club, Diversity Union and Rotaract Club
Several of the campus’ student-led clubs are partnering with the Office of Campus Ministry and the Office of Global Studies for a winter clothing drive. Donations will be collected from November 6 to December 6 and they will be given to the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Long Island Immigration Clinic. Donation boxes can be found in various spots around campus.
Food Drive
Hosted by the Office of Campus Ministry
From now until December 10, the Office of Campus Ministry will be accepting non-perishable food donations that will support the Patchogue-Medford Youth and Community Services.
Blood Drive
Hosted by the Center for Counseling and Wellness
On November 26 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., the Center for Counseling and Wellness will be hosting a blood drive in partnership with the New York Blood Center. Everyone who donates blood will receive a t-shirt.
New Teacher Donation Drive
Hosted by Kappa Delta Pi
Kappa Delta Pi will be hosting a new teacher donation drive from November 12 to November 15. Donations can be dropped off in the BT Building or O’Connor Hall.
Sigma Tau Delta’s Food Drive

From now until November 14, Sigma Tau Delta will be hosting a food drive. Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off in the English office, O’Connor Hall.
Eaglettes Clothing Drive
Hosted by the Eaglettes Dance Club
The Eaglettes Dance Club is hosting their first clothing drive in support of Go Green Clothing Recycling, a clothing recycling company on Long Island. They will be accepting gently used clothing, shoes and accessories on November 18 at 7 p.m. in the Danzi.
SAAC’s Food Drive

The SAAC is hosting their annual Thanksgiving food drive. From now until November 27, non-perishable food items can be dropped off in the Danzi.
