Waterscapes by Ross Barbera
Jan. 24 – Feb. 25 • Board Room Gallery
Ross Barbera’s paintings focus on the details of water surfaces mingling with landscape elements. The pieces featured in this exhibition reflect his ongoing series dedicated to capturing views of freshwater environments, including ponds, snowmelt flows and mountain streams.
Feb. 26 – April 8 • Board Room Gallery
In recognition of Women’s History Month, SJC Long Island’s CFA presents the art exhibition “Fiber Arts.” Working with textiles is not exclusive to women, but it is traditionally associated with women’s work in the domestic sphere — and thus historically devalued in the art world. This exhibition celebrates weaving, knotting, coiling and hooking fiber in appreciation of the labor-intensive creative visions of women artists including Ellen Dickinson, Amy Miller, Sally Shore and Marcia Widenor.
Virtual Artist Talk: Pioneer of Feminist Art, Miriam Schapiro
Wednesday, March 30 • Common Hour
Join Stacey Weir, who teaches “Women in the History of Art” at St. Joseph’s College, for a virtual presentation. She will lead a Q&A discussion on Miriam Schapiro, a pioneer of the Feminist Art Movement. Contact Anna Malzone, director of the CFA, at firstname.lastname@example.org for the Zoom link. The presentation will stream in Room N117.
