SJC’s Director of Military and Veterans Services Erin D’Eletto appeared live via Skype on the Catholic Faith Network’s CFN Live last week to discuss the College’s programs for students who are veterans, for those who are currently serving and for their family members.
With more than 200 military-affiliated students at SJC, D’Eletto on Veterans Day discussed some of the many services the College provides these students in the interview with CFN Live host Colleen McVey.
A proud participant in the Post-9/11 GI Bill® Yellow Ribbon Program, St. Joseph’s offers additional financial support to our student veterans. The College also offers transfer credit for military training and experience, as well as course offerings taught at the Ft. Hamilton Army Garrison in Brooklyn.
Both campuses have dedicated staff members in the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs and veterans lounges providing peer-to-peer social spaces promoting camaraderie, which is so important to our student veterans.
In addition, SJC is continually recognized as a Military Friendly School and has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report, Military Times and G.I. Jobs for its commitment to providing opportunities to America’s veterans, active military, and their families.
“We’re very proud of the recognitions we receive every year, and it’s very meaningful to us,” D’Eletto said during the Nov. 11 program. “Our leadership invests so significantly in our military and veteran students and what we believe contributes to their success is that we recognize the significance of providing services that support the whole person, and this includes academic, personal and professional support.”
SJC’s President Dr. Donald Boomgaarden recently completed filming new episodes of the CFN series “Living Our Mission,” which features familiar faces from SJC and covers a broad range of topics from racial injustice and COVID-19 to SJC’s mission and the liberal arts. The new episodes are currently airing on Catholic Faith Network.
