John Gomez said he’s grateful that his scholarship to attend St. Joseph’s College is helping him climb the ranks to his dream career.
Gomez is a senior criminal justice major and the recipient of one of three top-tier scholarships offered by the College. The scholarship lets Gomez focus on his classes and his cadet internship with the NYPD. After graduation, Gomez plans to continue working for the police department while pursuing a Masters in Public Administration.
Further down the road, John wants to earn a doctorate in criminal justice and return to SJC as a professor — just like his mentor, Dr. Joseph Pascarella.
“I love studying at St. Joseph’s because it’s so small and I really got to build a relationship with my professors,” Gomez said. “There are so many opportunities here — I’ve gone to the career office to get help with my resume and perfect my admissions essays for grad school. And my professor, Dr. Pascarella, is the one who told me about the opportunity to apply for my cadet internship.”
Between driving to school, sitting for classes, and working in the admissions department and at his NYPD cadet internship Gomez’s day is packed with exciting challenges.
