After two years of construction, the new Student Center on St. Joseph’s University, New York’s Long Island Campus will open this semester.
The 32,000-square-foot facility includes a plethora of new spaces, including spacious new dining facilities, an art gallery, a chapel, meeting rooms, a gaming lounge, multi-purpose event areas and more.
Located in the northeast corner of the Long Island Campus – with the Danzi Athletic Center to the west and O’Connor Hall to the south – the Student Center is the first SJNY structure to open at the campus in Patchogue in over a decade.
The Office of Student Life and Student Government Association will relocate from O’Connor Hall to the Student Center’s second floor, establishing the space as the campus’ central hub for student activity.
The Sisters of St. Joseph’s Chapel, the Office of Campus Ministry and an interfaith space are also located on the second floor. The chapel features wall-to-ceiling windows with views of the Quad in front of O’Connor Hall and the Danzi Knoll.
An esports room with gaming PCs sits adjacent to the student game lounge on the first floor. Two dining halls, a meeting room and a multi-purpose space populate the first floor’s east wing.
A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 20.
