Acclaimed author Bernardine Evaristo will discuss her new memoir next week during a virtual installment of Brooklyn Voices.
Evaristo will present her first nonfiction book, “Manifesto,” during a Zoom event hosted by Rumaan Alam, an award-winning novelist and contributing editor to political commentary magazine New Republic on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. It’s the same day that Grove Press officially publishes “Manifesto.”
SJC Brooklyn is hosting the event in partnership with the Greenlight Bookstore in Brooklyn.
“Manifesto” celebrates Evaristo’s journey to resiliency, detailing her life and career, as she fought tirelessly for decades to bring her creative work into the world. The inspirational story covers Evaristo’s theory of unstoppability, which she says was pivotal to making her mark as a young actor and playwright in London.
Evaristo is a London-based writer and the 2019 winner of the Booker Prize for “Girl, Woman, Other.” She has published seven other books exploring aspects of the African diaspora.
