The annual Honors Convocation ceremony last month honored SJC Brooklyn’s top scholars.
Robert Riley, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs, gave a warm congratulations to a trio of freshmen, who received the College’s highest-ranking scholarships. Remi Rivera received The Board of Trustees scholarship, Sierra Bedrin took home the Blanche A. Knauth Scholarship, and Christopher Saad was awarded the Sister George Aquin O’Connor Scholarship.
The Oct. 21 Honors Convocation additionally recognized students inducted into a pair of honor societies: Delta Epsilon Sigma, a national honor society, and Sigma Iota Chi, the SJC honor society. The academic event also recognized graduating seniors in the honors program.
Speakers at the Honors Convocation included SJC President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D.; Interim Executive Dean Raymond D’Angelo, Ph.D.; E. Jane Beckwith, associate professor of studio art and art history; Mirella Landriscina, Ph.D.,
committee on academic development and an associate professor of sociology; Honors Program Director Michael Burke, Ph.D.; and S. Marie Mackey, C.S.J., director of campus ministry.
