SJC Long Island’s Dance Team this week moved mountains… of clothing, that is — 3,737 pounds of it, all donated to the Savers in Holbrook.
“In the midst of the crazy world we are living in, the team wanted to participate in a fundraiser that would not only be safe, but one that could give back to the community, as well,” said junior Sophia Pina, a second-year captain of the team.
Exemplifying the College’s pillar of service, the Dance Team started collecting clothing donations back in August, storing the bags of clothes at their coach’s house until they were ready to drop them off on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
“We wanted to help others during this difficult time and are extremely thankful to all who contributed; we were blown away by the outcome,” Pina, a nursing major, said.
