The Skyline Conference’s Fall 2024 Academic Honor Roll included 27 fall student-athletes from St. Joseph’s University, New York’s Brooklyn Campus. To qualify for the honor roll, student-athletes must achieve a 3.3 grade-point average (GPA) or above on a 4.0 scale while actively participating in men’s and women’s fall sports.
Women’s soccer led the fall season teams on the Brooklyn campus with eight honorees.
The Skyline Conference academic honors were presented to:
Women’s and Men’s Cross Country: Danielle Bourne (senior), Kristen Donovan (junior), Joshua Gordon (graduate student), Kathleen Idrovo (senior), Jennifer Sarji (sophomore), Miguel Toribio (junior) and Lauren Van Der Kamp (senior).
Men’s Soccer: Jesus Cano (senior), Arturo Franco (senior), Joaquin Franco (sophomore), Bryan Garcia (freshman), Matthew Kieblesz (sophomore), Joshua Lucano (sophomore), Victor Naci (senior) and Diego Volpe (senior).
Women’s Soccer: Gabriella Albizuri (freshman), Katherine Barrios (junior), Heather Bollmann (graduate student), Mary Hall (junior), Casey Hobbs (junior), Ashley Pintado (junior), Hayden Reis (senior) and Valarie Scott (freshman).
Women’s Volleyball: Taylor Knight (junior), Anna Makarouna (freshman), Mariana Medrano (freshman), Rachel Meltsin (junior) and Martina Urgo (senior).
College Sports Communicators Honors
In addition, seven SJNY Bears were recognized by the College Sports Communicators as Academic All-District selections for the fall season. The All-District teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, student-athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.50, which is not rounded up.
The Bears earning All-District honors included: Heather Bollmann, Casey Hobbs and Ashley Pintado on women’s soccer; Rachel Meltsin on women’s volleyball; and Arturo Franco, Joaquin Franco, Lorenzo LaRosa, Matthew Kieblesz and Victor Naci on the men’s soccer team.
Naci ’25 also earned a spot on the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America – Third Team. For the Academic All-America Teams, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and play in 90 percent or start 66 percent of the team’s games to be considered.
Naci—the soccer program’s leading scorer—is the fourth student-athlete in SJNY Bears’ history to achieve Academic All-America status. He is the first men’s soccer player to earn the distinction.
