It’s nearly that time of year. In a little over a week, St. Joseph’s University, New York will kickstart its eighth annual giving day. The 24-hour fundraising effort will see SJNY students, staff, faculty, alumni, friends and family come together to support several projects and initiatives across the University’s Brooklyn and Long Island campuses. This year’s giving day will take place Wednesday, April 15.
Last year’s event received nearly 750 donations, totaling more than $75,500, which went on to fund 25 critical projects across the SJNY community.
Participants can choose which projects they would like to support across several initiatives including new academic and research opportunities; reinventing teaching, learning and collaborative environments; scholarship, student aid and fellowships; and student engagement, campus life and athletics.
“This year marks our 8th Giving Day and once again our donors will have the chance to select from a variety of student- and faculty-led projects across the university. Giving Day helps provide funding for small and medium-sized initiatives including traveling to conferences, purchasing lab equipment, supporting students in financial emergencies and boosting our athletics programs and club sports teams,” said Flavio Bollag, assistant vice president for advancement and engagement at SJNY.
“Giving Day is one day a year — a chance for the SJNY community including students, faculty staff and alumni to come together and show the collective power of philanthropy. Every gift counts and together we can help support valued programs and new ideas for campus life and community engagement,” he concluded.
All are welcome to participate and spread the word. SJNY’s donation page can be found here.
