An Afternoon of Excellence
The Fair Media Council Folio Awards is one of the biggest events representing Long Island-based media — an annual ceremony celebrating excellence across the industry, on both local and national levels. It was on a bright and beautiful Thursday afternoon when St. Joseph’s University, New York received two Folio awards, being honored for its distinction in journalism and visual storytelling.
Hosted June 11 at the Garden City Hotel in Garden City, New York, members of SJNY’s marketing and communications team were in attendance to accept awards for Digital Magazine of the Year for their work on the latest issue of SJNY Magazine, and a Visual Storytelling Award for the video, “SJNY: Celebrating the Sisters of St. Joseph’s 375th Anniversary.”
Both award-winning publications were in honor of the Sisters of St. Joseph, who last year celebrated their 375-year legacy of excellence as educators and mentors, as well as being the founders of SJNY. The video honoring the Sisters was displayed during the University’s 106th annual Commencement Ceremony.
“Being recognized by the Fair Media Council for the creative work produced at St. Joseph’s University, New York is both an honor and a meaningful affirmation of the thoughtfulness, dedication and collaboration that drive our projects,” said Vice President for Marketing and Communications Jessica McAleer Decatur.
SJNY Named Among the Best in Media
Northwell Health, Newsday, CBS New York, PIX11, and WABC-TV were among several others recognized as the best in media alongside SJNY by the Fair Media Council. This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award honorees included Good Morning America’s Sam Champion, CBS News New York’s Jennifer McLogan and Dave Winzleberg of Long Island Business News.
The awards won during this year’s ceremony represent only a fraction of the creativity, meticulousness and hard work exhibited by the University’s staff, students and faculty.
“I am incredibly proud of our team and deeply grateful for the creative partnerships we have that help bring our ideas to life. Together, we strive to create work that not only informs and engages but also resonates with our audiences in meaningful ways,” Decatur continued.
