SJC Long Island students, faculty and staff gathered in the McGann Conference Center March 28 during common hour for the seventh annual Music and Arts Festival.
“The idea behind the festival is to expose our students to the arts in an unexpected and fresh way,” said Director for the Council for the Arts Anna Malzone. “We bring in professional artists/musicians we feel will pique students’ interest. The festival also provides an outlet for students to be creative, as we invite clubs and student groups to actively participate.”
The event included performances by the SJC Sharps, SJC Shockwaves and Drama Society, as well as electronic violinist Asher Laub and the Long Island Vegetable Orchestra. Decorating the walls were artwork by art majors and local artist Janine Manheim, as well as students’ photographs from various study abroad trips. The artwork from St. Joseph’s art majors will be on display in a student art exhibition April 8 through early May in the Board Room.
