Named in memory of S. Mary Lorenzo Sullivan, C.S.J., for her dedication to the college, the building was purchased from the Allison family in 1935 and served as the campus library from 1936-1965. S. Mary Lorenzo joined SJC in 1923 as a librarian and instructor. In 1924, she became one of the first registrars of the College.
