SJC Long Island Campus Ministry invites students and staff to participate in Mission Day, their inaugural day of service, alongside the Sisters of St. Joseph at the Sisters’ congregation in Brentwood on Wednesday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Mission Day comes in lieu of the College’s annual Mission Trip, formerly known as Alternative Spring Break, which is traditionally held during spring break and encourages students to live out three of the College’s five pillars — service, social responsibility and spiritual depth.
During this year’s Mission Day, students will have the opportunity to tour the Sisters of St. Joseph property in Brentwood, engage in sustainability service projects, dine with some of the Sisters at lunch and experience reflection opportunities with the Sisters.
“I hope students can learn more about this wonderful location and the rich history that the Sisters have here on Long Island,” said Cristian Murphy ’14, director of Campus Ministry at SJC Long Island.
“To own this massive property and use so much of it to help others and be a pillar of good is so inspiring,” he continued. “And it’s right in our backyard. I hope it’s a day of enlightenment for us all.”
Mission Day is open to all members of the SJC community. Email Campus Ministry at licampusministry@sjny.edu to let them know you’re going.
