1986-95 • New Programs, Fresh Opportunities
As SJC approached its 75th anniversary, its visionary leadership continued to yield significant benefits, with substantial growth in enrollment and fundraising, as students, philanthropists and corporate supporters took notice of the rapid development and success of the College in Brooklyn and Long Island.
New academic programs, such as nursing, were launched on both campuses and major additions and renovations were made to the Long Island campus to handle the influx of new students. And thanks to the unprecedented success of the “New Horizons” fundraising campaign, SJC secured the necessary resources to expand its slate of academic offerings to begin a weekend college in 1994 and a graduate program in 1995.
As the world around it was growing busier and more complex, St. Joseph’s was supplying ample opportunity for its students to succeed.
SJC Brooklyn saw significant growth in enrollment between 1986-1995.
Christopher Carroll ’88, Esq.

As a student, Christopher Carroll ’88, Esq. was constantly involved and committed to his institution. That enthusiasm hasn’t wavered.
Mr. Carroll, a founding partner at the New Jersey law firm Carroll, McNulty & Kull, LLC, remains an active member of the St. Joseph’s community, serving as vice chair of the Board of Trustees for St. Joseph’s College. Even 28 years ago as president of the SJC Student Government Association, he knew the value of a strong relationship with his community.
“I have learned that in order to benefit fully from all that college can offer, one must enter wholeheartedly into an active relationship with those aspects of college that will enrich his or her life.” Mr. Carroll wrote in SJC Long Island’s 1988 Horizons yearbook to his graduating class. “I have discovered that college is far more than classroom learning. It is the sum of formal learning and personal service to one’s college, fellow students and other members of the community.”
A magna cum laude graduate of St. Joseph’s College, Mr. Carroll earned a bachelor’s in social science — and that was only the beginning. From SJC, Mr. Carroll moved on to St. John’s University, earning a law degree there in 1991.
Mr. Carroll served as an associate and partner at several prestigious law firms in the New York metropolitan area before co-founding Carroll, McNulty & Kull, LLC in 1997.
Mr. Carroll continues to generously share his time and skills with his alma mater. In the last decade, he has embarked upon a fundraising effort in memory of a deceased classmate, Thomas J. Wendt ’88; served on an alumni panel for students interested in careers in law; and lectured within the College’s Student Leadership Experience program.
