A Gorgeous Day at Cold Spring Country Club
On May 11, St. Joseph’s University, New York held its 35th Annual Golf Classic at the picturesque Cold Spring Country Club in Huntington, New York. More than 130 golfers attended the event, raising more than $190,000 for student-athletes on SJNY’s Brooklyn and Long Island campuses, some of whom assisted attendees throughout the day.
Honoring Brennin J. Kroog ’09
After the golf outing, the University hosted a cocktail reception honoring SJNY alumnus and board of trustees’ member Brennin J. Kroog ’09 with the Thomas J. Wendt Award for Community Service, named in memory of Long Island alumnus Thomas Wendt ’88. The prestigious annual award, which recognizes an SJNY alumna or alumnus, was introduced by former Director of Student Services Marian Russo and presented by SJNY President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D. Also in attendance was Wendt’s sister, Loren Pusateri.
Kroog, a managing director at Lazard Frères & Co., advises financial institutions and fintech companies globally on mergers, acquisitions and capital markets transactions. He also serves as chairman of Lazard’s Global Workplace & Culture committee and is on SJNY’s Board of Trustees. He lives in Roslyn, New York, with his wife, Melissa ’09, and their two children.
Earlier in the day, the Kroog family — who in 2023 helped establish the Kroog Center for Veterans in the Student Center on the Long Island campus — sponsored a veterans’ foursome with current student-veterans and alumni golfers.
