Arts and music. Free food and activities. A luau.
Despite the rainy weather, SJC Long Island students enjoyed an eventful Spring Fling Week across campus, celebrating the change in seasons.
Arts and Music Festival
During the Arts and Music Festival hosted on Tuesday by the Council for the Arts (CFA), students enjoyed painting rocks for the Shea Garden as part of a segment hosted by the Art Club and Women’s Empowerment Club; took part in music and literary activities; got to play with puppets and marionettes while led by SJC alumna Heather Van Velsor Thorgersen and the company ThinkBIG! Theater Arts, Inc.; and create sea glass art necklaces with Golden Eagles’ women’s tennis coach Robyn Romanoff.

Spring Fling
The annual Spring Fling event itself, hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB) on Wednesday, featured music, plenty of free food (pretzels, acai bowls, Duck Donuts and an ice cream truck), a rock wall, spray paint t-shirts and an Easter egg hunt that led to free prizes. Students also had the chance to support 20 College initiatives during the fourth annual Giving Day.
“Spring fling was an amazing event that brought many students together,” said Asma Hosein, an events coordinator for CAB and a junior child study major with a concentration in psychology. “It was exciting to see friends have a great time, eat great food and enjoy the music. This event is one of the many that I will remember during my time here at SJC!”
