Stefanie’s Path to St. Joe’s
For Brooklyn native Stefanie DeMarco, St. Joseph’s Brooklyn Campus gave her the college experience she wanted, allowing her to connect with professors and peers, and play sports while still remaining close to home.
Graduating with an MBA, DeMarco also holds a bachelor’s from the University after double majoring in marketing and business administration, with a concentration in sports management.
Core Memories
As an undergraduate student, DeMarco was very involved in campus life as a student athlete and member of Kappa Gamma Pi, Delta Epsilon Sigma and Sigma Iota Chi honor societies.
“Being a part of the dual-degree program allowed me to challenge myself and accelerate the completion of my degrees,” said DeMarco. “Graduating with both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees within five years has set me up for success both academically and professionally.”
Now graduating once again, DeMarco has her sights set on a career in the sports industry, focusing on the business side of sports.
“I feel prepared from the skills I have learned at St. Joe’s and I plan to continue growing as a person both individually and professionally,” she said.
Looking Back on St. Joseph’s Mentorship
DeMarco credits Lori Thanos, DBA, MBA, associate chair and assistant professor of business administration and marketing, as having an impact on her and helping her grow as a person, now prepared to enter the professional world with confidence and the ability to lead.
“Dr. Thanos has served as a great mentor to me over the last five years, continuously showing her support for everything I strive to accomplish,” DeMarco said. “My time at St. Joe’s has immensely prepared me for my future by encouraging me to be my best self while reaching for my personal and academic goals, and building a strong foundation that I will carry with me in my professional career.”
Ultimately, the love and support of her family carried DeMarco through her academic career. With the strong work ethic instilled in her by her parents, she offers this advice for future students:
