For the third straight year, St. Joseph’s College used the week of Valentine’s Day for alumni to celebrate the relationships they formed and the memories they created during their time at the College.
“I ❤️ SJC Week” featured a series of OnCampus stories, along with a Trivia Night event hosted by the Office of Institutional Advancement.
Here’s a breakdown of the weeklong celebration:
Sunday — Valentine’s Day
The collective walk down memory lane got started on Sunday with two heartwarming stories about married couples who met while attending St. Joseph’s. Separate OnCampus stories featured a husband and wife who met at SJC Brooklyn and a bride and groom who met at SJC Long Island.
Tuesday — SJC Brooklyn ‘Besties’
On Tuesday, OnCampus featured SJC Brooklyn graduate Ginny O’Rourke McLaughlin ’62, who still maintains “besties” friendships that began six decades ago on campus in Clinton Hill.
Wednesday — SJC Long Island ‘Besties’
St. Joseph’s College graduates Melissa Henn Michaud and Liam Kuhn became “besties” during their time going to school together at SJC Long Island. At some point after graduating in 2001, they went separate ways. But a chance encounter at Panera Bread about a decade later and participating in the SJC Long Island Alumni Association solidified their “SJC Besties” friendship.
Thursday — Trivia Night
Alumni from SJC Brooklyn and SJC Long Island participated in a game of virtual trivia Thursday night. Players were split into four teams. The Snowbirds won, with Soaring and Scoring finishing in second. The event was organized and hosted by the SJC’s Office of Institutional Advancement.
SJC Alumni Association Presidents Margaret Broda ’04 (SJC Brooklyn) and Melissa Michaud ’01 (SJC Long Island) served as emcees. The categories included #IHeartSJC, Pop Culture, and Vandy and Hot Wyngz Ultimate Adventure.
