Camera-ready in his SJC Roller Hockey jersey, U.S. Army veteran Patrick Donahue was featured earlier this month on CBS Local’s Exit 10/55 with Richard Rose.
Donahue spoke about Project9line, a nonprofit he founded in 2013 that helps veterans reintegrate back into society through the arts. Donahue announced that Project9line had recently opened new headquarters in Islip, Donahue’s hometown, where the nonprofit now offers free programs to veterans in almost every interest area imaginable: mixed martial arts training, standup comedy classes, creative writing, music lessons and more.
An SJC Long Island student, Donahue served in the U.S. Army’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team “STRIKE” 101st Airborne Division. He was deployed to the Kandahar province of Afghanistan before returning home to Long Island. Donahue started Project9line after he experienced his own difficulty in readjusting to post-war life. He decided to create his own organization to help veterans become civilians again.
Donahue was featured in Exit 10/55 in October 2015 for his work with Project9line’s Veterans Comedy Assault program — a standup show now touring the country.
