Eileen White Jahn, Ph.D., started teaching undergraduate and graduate business classes at St. Joseph’s College in 1998. More than 20 years later, she’s set to start her new role as interim executive dean of SJC Long Island.
“I am excited to be in this position at such a wonderful time in the College,” said Dr. Jahn, who starts her new role on Monday and will serve during the 2019-2020 school year.
Replacing outgoing Interim Executive Dean Wendy Turgeon, Ph.D., Dr. Jahn will continue to serve as chair and professor of the Department of Business Administration and Marketing — a position she’s held at the College since 2001.
Across her years at the College, Dr. Jahn has worn numerous hats. She helped start the Master of Business in Administration (M.B.A.) in 1999, served on several committees and task forces, advised clubs, and has moderated and spoken on panels at plenty of campus events. While she has enjoyed the many roles she has served at St. Joseph’s, it wasn’t always part of her plan to work in higher education.
“I wanted to be a hermit or a martyr. Seriously,” Dr. Jahn said of her dream job as a child.
Dr. Jahn, who earned an M.B.A. in Management Information Technology from New York University and a Ph.D. in Organizational Policy Studies from Baruch College, will also spend this summer enjoying one of her favorite hobbies — running a sleep-away camp.
“Every summer for the past 28 years, I have run a sleep-away camp, with 250 campers and staff ranging in age from 8 to 21,” she said.

Dr. Jahn was a great professor. Cared about her students, made learning fun, and worked really hard. Much luck to her! ~ SJCNY Class of 2018
